The History of Tea

Tea has an extremely close relationship to Chinese culture, and its study covers a wide field and has very rich content.

It not only embodies the spirit of civilization, but also the spirit of ideological form.

During a long day spent roaming the forest in search of edible grains and herbs, the weary divine farmer Shennong accidentally poisoned himself 72 times.

But before the poisons could end his life, a leaf drifted into his mouth. He chewed on it and it revived him, and that is how we discovered tea.

Legendary stories aside, archaeological evidence has been found indicating that tea was used as a medicine by the elite as early as the Han dynasty.

It didn't achieve widespread popularity as an everyday beverage until the Tang dynasty, however.

From being used as a medicine by the elite to being consumed as an everyday beverage by the folks.

By the Ming dynasty, tea consumption began to resemble what it looks like today – a dried, loose-leaf tea steeped in boiling water inside a teapot.

Tea embodies the spirit of China's civilization. Tea also embodies the spirit of our ideological form.
