Primeval Light

O tiny rose so red!
Mankind is in greatest distress!
Mankind is in greatest agony!
How much better it would to be in Heaven!

As I came to a broad highway,
An angel came and tried to turn me away.
But no! I would not be turned away:
From God I come and shall return to God!
Dear God will give to me a little light,
To light my way to eternal ,blessed life!
