衡门之下，可以栖迟。泌之洋洋，可以乐饥。
岂其食鱼，必河之鲂？岂其取妻，必齐之姜？
岂其食鱼，必河之鲤？岂其取妻，必宋之子？


Contentment

Beneath the door of single beam
You can sit and rest at your leisure；
Beside the gently flowing stream
You may drink to stay hunger with pleasure.

If you want to eat fish,
Why must you have bream as you wish?
If you want to be wed,
Why must you have Qi the nobly bred?

If you want to eat fish,
Why must you have carp as you wish?
If you want to be wed,
Why must you have Song the highly bred ?
