Unit 11 The first time I visited a zoo

I still remember clearly the first time my parents took me to a zoo, and it was a truly rewarding trip. In my nursery school, I had seen a lot of wild animals in books, but I had never seen them in person. You can imagine how excited I was when we arrived at the zoo. At the entrance, I found a lot of people standing in line for tickets. I couldn’t wait to get inside. After getting the tickets, we took a bus to tour the zoo. My parents kept pointing at the animals on the way and told me what they were. Later we stopped at a place where we could pet those tame animals. Then, a zoo-keeper came up to brief us on how they protected wild animals. Out of curiosity, I asked him a few questions. Much to my delight, he not only answered them all but gave me a small gift as a token of encouragement. Since then I have taken a keen interest in wild animals. Now I am majoring in zoology. It must have had something to do with that illuminating experience.
