3) values are subjective • right and wrong does not matter • Different minds value different things • Values are mind-dependent “you value freedom, i value law” ◦ Sometimes blocks moral objection
4) we have no standing to criticized other people’s value judgement • all you need is curiousity • “Does political contribution affects our ability to govern” “who’s to say” ◦ Kicks the can down the road ◦ Responsibility avoidance • Our current polarizing political environment ◦ Comes form decades of neglect • Anyone who has a sense of right or wrong has good standing to voice about them
5) basic value commitments are not subject to rational assessment • If you rely on ideals that seem to be accepted without questions ◦ You are affected • Ex: religion etc
6) questioning people’s fundamental beliefs are offensive • avoid the discomfort to rethink core beliefs • Good question is not a personal attack, focus on the validity of the issue
