Prologue 

Long ago, before our time, there was a landcalled Kumandra, where humans lived alongsidewater dragons. The dragons brought water, rain,and peace to the land to help it flourish. And thehumans lived in harmony, caring for one another.Life in Kumandra was paradise.

But then the Druun came, spreading likewildfire to consume3 life. Whoever they touchedturned to stone. A mindless virus, the Druun caredfor nothing. Their only goal was to spread andmultiply. 

Dragons valiantly fought the Druun, battling to save humanity, but it wasn’t enough. One byone, the great and mighty dragons were turned tostone.

Until there was only one left.

When all seemed lost, Sisudatu, the lastdragon, summoned1 every bit of her magic andpower, and placed it in a gem. Then she climbed tothe highest point in Kumandra and brought fortha great explosion!

When the dust cleared, the Druun were gone —and so was Sisudatu.

The humans who had been turned to stonecame back to life. But the dragons did not. And allthat remained of Sisu was the glowing blue DragonGem — the last remnant of dragon magic.

Without the dragons, peace and harmonydisappeared. Kumandra split into five enemy lands —Tail, Spine, Talon, Fang, and Heart — that foughtto possess the Dragon Gem. It had to be hidden.

The Dragon Gem now resides in a secret chamberin Heart, guarded by the warrior Chief Benja, thebaddest blade in all the lands. No one has evergotten near the Gem...until now.
