第二步：Break the Ice - 让老外眼前一亮的破冰方式

Three Steps of Break the Ice:

   1. Make a good first impression.

   2. Use a good opener to start the conversation.

   3. Learn how to deal with rejection.

“The first impression doesn’t come from your words. It comes from your body language. Actually, scientists know that you make your first impression in only 1/10 of a second.”

What does NCA mean?

    N means Notice.

    C means the Three Cs:

            Care

            Compliment

            Comment

    A means Ask. 

Example Conversations:

A: Excuse me,  I’ve heard that book was really good. Could I ask, what do you think of it?

B: It’s really great! I’m enjoying it so far.

A: So, what do you like about it?

B: Well, the story is very exciting, so it’s really easy to just read for hours and hours.

A: Unbelievable! It’s so crowded today. Is it always this crowded?

B: Yeah, pretty much.

A: Do you take this line often?

B: Yeah, every day on the way to work.

A: Excuse me! Could I help you order something?

B: Oh, sure. I just want an Americano, no sugar.

A: Americano, no sugar?

B: Yeah.

A: Is this your first time in this coffee shop?

A: Hi! We haven't met before. I'm Josh. Have you worked here for a long time?

在大学食堂：

A: Excuse me, is this seat taken? I’m Josh. Nice to meet you. May I ask, what are you studying here?

在派对现场：

A: Hi! I'm Josh. So, how do you know the host?

失败了，怎么办？

Just do two things:

1. Learn from it.

2. Do it again!

碰到失败之后的反省模式：

This time I… 这次我（反省做的不好的地方）

Next time, I will…下次我（提出改进的方案）

“This time I forgot to smile. Next time, I will remember to smile and make eye contact.”

“This time he did not reply to my first sentence. Next time, I will try to find a better ‘in.’”

Remember: the more mistakes you make, the more friends you make!
