What makes China a high context culture ？

High Context: This is a culture that makes a lot of assumptions about the commonality of communications, views, and knowledge. In this culture, there is more of a quiet understanding of what is going on and less is said about it, as in the end we should be just 'understood'. The social values and traditional social custuoms play a more important role in communication situations.It stresses indirect talk ,status-oriented focus,self-effacement mode,and the importance of nonverbal signals and even silence.  The message is implicit and indirect, thus people expect you to understand more than what is said.Deciphering of the message is expected by the listener and huge responsibility of understanding lies on him.
