'Complete victory' in eradicating absolute poverty
脱贫攻坚战取得全面胜利

President Xi Jinping announced on Thursday that China has scored a "complete victory" in its fight against poverty. Xi, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said absolute poverty has been eradicated in the world's most populous country. 
全国脱贫攻坚总结表彰大会于2月25日在北京隆重举行，中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平发表重要讲话。

Xi made the announcement while addressing a gathering held in Beijing to mark the country's accomplishments in poverty alleviation and honor its model poverty fighters. 
习近平庄严宣告，我国脱贫攻坚战取得全面胜利。

Over the past eight years, the final 98.99 million impoverished rural residents living under the current poverty line have all been lifted out of poverty. All 832 impoverished counties and 128,000 impoverished villages have been removed from the poverty list. 
过去八年来，现行标准下9899万农村贫困人口全部脱贫，832个贫困县全部摘帽，12.8万个贫困村全部出列，完成了消除绝对贫困的艰巨任务。

Since the launch of reform and opening-up in the late 1970s, 770 million impoverished rural residents have shaken off poverty, when calculated in accordance with China's current poverty line. China has contributed more than 70% to global poverty reduction over the same period. With these achievements, China has created another "miracle" that will "go down in history," Xi said. 
自20世纪70年代末实行改革开放以来，我国累计已有7.7亿农村贫困人口脱贫，对全球减贫事业的贡献率超过七成，创造了又一个彪炳史册的人间奇迹！

National law database
国家法律法规数据库开通

A senior Chinese official on Wednesday highlighted the importance of the construction and application of a national database of laws and regulations to advance the rule of law in China. The database will make legal services more accessible to the general public, said Wang Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, at the launching ceremony for the database. 
中共中央政治局委员、全国人大常委会副委员长王晨2月24日在国家法律法规数据库开通仪式上强调，要建设好、运用好国家法律法规数据库，助力法治中国建设，让法治服务及时方便"飞入寻常百姓家"。

Wang stressed the need to build the database into an authoritative, effective, convenient and smooth platform, urging efforts to make full use of modern information technologies such as big data to improve the quality and efficiency of legislation work.
王晨强调，建设国家法律法规数据库要在权威高效、便捷畅通上下功夫，要充分利用大数据和现代化信息技术，推动提升立法质量和效率。

China is expected to conduct more than 40 space launches in 2021, according to a report released by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp on Wednesday. 
据中国航天科技集团有限公司2月24日发布的报告，2021年，我国全年航天发射次数有望突破40次。

In 2021, the construction of China's space station will enter a crucial stage, and China's Mars probe Tianwen-1 is due to complete its orbiting, landing and roving operations. China will also launch a number of satellites for civil space infrastructure, the report said. 
载人航天空间站工程进入关键技术验证和建造阶段；天问一号火星探测器到达火星，实施中国首次火星"绕、着、巡"探测；多颗民用空间基础设施业务卫星发射。

The Long March-5B Y2 rocket is scheduled to launch the core module of China's space station in the spring. A total of 11 missions to build China's space station are planned in 2021 and 2022. China conducted 39 space launches in 2020, sending 89 spacecraft into space, according to the report. 
长征五号B遥二火箭发射空间站核心舱任务拟于今年春季执行，2021年与2022年，我国载人航天工程预计实施11次发射任务。2020年，中国开展39次航天发射，发射89个航天器。

Australia is preferred Olympic bidder

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has named Brisbane, Australia, as the preferred bidder to host the 2032 Olympic Games. IOC's future host commission recommended the body enter "targeted dialogue" with Brisbane bid organizers and the Australian Olympic Committee.
