Over 9M vaccine shots given

More than 9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across China, and the safety and efficacy of the vaccines have been proved, Zeng Yixin, deputy head of the National Health Commission, said at a news conference at the State Council Information Office on Saturday. 
在国新办1月9日召开的新闻发布会上，国家卫健委副主任曾益新表示，我国已累计开展新冠病毒疫苗接种900多万剂次，中国新冠病毒疫苗的安全性和有效性得到证明。

Wang Huaqing, chief expert for the immunization plan at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said data collected over the use of the vaccines show that they are safe, with chances of experiencing serious side effects standing at about one in every 1 million doses. Li Tao, deputy head of the National Healthcare Security Administration, said the public will get free COVID-19 vaccinations on a voluntary basis when mass vaccinations start. The expenses for the vaccination will be borne by the basic medical insurance fund and government, she said.
中国疾控中心免疫规划首席专家王华庆表示，疫苗使用过程中收集到的数据显示我国疫苗安全可靠，出现严重不良反应的几率约为百万分之一。国家医保局副局长李滔表示，疫苗大规模接种将在居民知情自愿的前提下进行。全部费用将由医保基金和财政共同负担，居民个人不负担。

New bullet train makes debut
复兴号高寒动车组亮相

A new type of Fuxing high-speed bullet train that can operate under temperatures as low as -40 C made its debut in Beijing on Thursday. The CR400AF-G train will run on a new high-speed railway line connecting Beijing and Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang province. 
1月6日，我国新型复兴号高寒动车组CR400AF-G在北京首度亮相，该动车组可适应零下40摄氏度的运行环境。

The train, adorned with red stripes, is designed to run at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour and carry as many as 1,080 passengers. Developers have taken measures to ensure the train operates safely in extremely cold weather, including adding unique braking and electrical heating systems.
此动车组列车车体外观装饰有红色线条，设计时速350公里，载客定员1080人，将在新贯通的京哈高铁上运行。该动车组采用了独特的制动和电热系统，以确保列车能在极寒天气下安全运行。

Douyin fined over vulgar content
抖音因涉黄受行政处罚

Popular short-video platform Douyin has been fined for spreading vulgar and pornographic content, a central government watchdog announced on Friday. The move could be considered a sign that platforms are being urged to shoulder more responsibility to manage content, an expert said. 
扫黄打非办1月8日宣布，对热门短视频平台抖音传播低俗色情内容作出罚款处罚。一位专家表示，此举可视为敦促平台承担更多内容管理责任的信号。

Douyin's punishment was made public by the National Office for the Fight Against Pornography and Illegal Publications, after investigations showed that some anchors on Douyin displayed behaviors such as flirting, sexual suggestiveness, smoking and using obscenities during webcasts, the office said in a release on its Weibo account. The probe also showed that the real-time comments, known as "bullet chat", in some livestreaming rooms of Douyin contained vulgar content. In addition, some individual anchors played or recommended unapproved games that include violent and threatening content, it said. 
全国"扫黄打非"办公室在其官方微博上发布消息称，该机构在调查后对抖音进行了公开处罚。经查，抖音平台中个别主播在直播中存在性挑逗、性暗示和抽烟、说脏话等行为，部分直播间评论弹幕存在低俗内容；个别主播直播的游戏未经审批，且含有血腥、暴力、恐怖等内容。

Douyin was fined and ordered to correct its illegal behaviors, strengthen content management and block pornographic content. But the office did not disclose the exact amount of the fine. The office said that in 2020 it received more than 900 tips about pornographic and vulgar information on Douyin's platform.
"扫黄打非"办公室对抖音作出行政罚款的处罚，责令立即改正有关违法行为，并要求该公司加强内容管理，对色情内容的发布予以封禁。但"扫黄打非"办公室并未透露罚款的具体金额。2020年全国"扫黄打非"办公室共接到反映涉"抖音"平台传播色情低俗信息的举报线索900余条。

Democrats mull Trump impeachment

Democrats in the US House of Representatives said they will introduce an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Monday, charging him with "incitement of insurrection" for encouraging the mob that stormed the Capitol on Wednesday as a joint session of Congress met to certify his election loss to President-elect Joe Biden. 
美国众议院民主党人计划在1月11日提出弹劾特朗普总统的条款，指控特朗普"煽动暴乱"，在1月6日美国参众两院召开联席会议确认拜登当选总统时，煽动暴力示威者冲进国会大厦。

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday the House of Representatives would begin impeachment proceedings if Trump doesn't leave office immediately by resignation or removal from office by Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet by means of the disability clause in the 25th Amendment to the Constitution. 

美国众议院议长南希•佩洛西1月8日称，如果特朗普不立刻辞去总统一职，或者由美国副总统彭斯和内阁援引第25条修正案宣布特朗普无法履行其职责而将他免职，众议院将再度发起弹劾程序。

Biden said at a news conference on Friday that it was up to Congress to decide whether to impeach Trump, but that the fastest way to remove the president would be his own inauguration on Jan 20. He said he wanted Congress ready the day he's sworn in to address his agenda, led by new measures to curb the COVID-19 pandemic and stimulate the economy.
