The Farmer and the Snake
Returning home one winter's day, a farmer found a snake lying under a hedge(树篱), half dead with cold...he placed it in his bosom(胸膛)...where he laid it upon the hearth(灶台) near the fire. No sooner was the snake restored(恢复) by the warmth of the cottage(小屋)...rushed into the room, grabbed an ax(斧子), and smashed the serpent(大蛇) until it was dead.
Kindness to ungrateful and vicious(邪恶的) creatures is thrown away.
