一、词汇积累

1. expert /ˈekspɜːt/ n. 专家

                     adj.熟练的，内行的，专业的（=professional）

近义词比较

“professional”还可以表示“职业的”，而“expert”只能表示“专业的”。

例句

She loved to weave and she was an expert at it.

她喜欢织网，她是这方面的专家。

He received expert advice.

他获得了专业的指导。

2. arise /əˈraɪz/ v.（问题、机会、情况等）出现，起源，起床，起立

过去式和过去分词

过去式：arose

过去分词：arisen

例句

New difficulties had arisen.

新的困难已经出现。  

The practice arose in the nineteenth century.

这种做法起源于19世纪。

He is liable for damages arising out of the accident.

二、知识拓展

1. be interested in sth/get interested in sth  对某事产生兴趣

Charlotte got so interested in her work.

夏洛对自己的工作产生了浓厚的兴趣。

“get interested”在口语中单独使用时，表示提醒别人注意你谈论的话题，例如：

Girlfriend: I want to buy that LV handbag…

Boyfriend: …

Girlfriend: Get interested!

2. stand out  突出，明显，（与他人/物相比）更好或更重要

Drops of dew, catching the sun, made the web stand out clearly.

露珠反射阳光，让网显得那么突出。

The black lettering really stands out on the orange background.

黑字在橘色背景下显得十分突出。

We had many applicants for the job, but one stood out from the rest.

这个岗位有很多竞争者，但其中一个在众人中十分突出。

3. the Arables，the Zuckermans

“the+姓氏复数”表示“某姓氏的一家”，好比我们说的“老李家”。“the Arables”就是“Arable一家”，“the Zuckermans”表示“Zuckerman一家”。
