Good Morning.
Today, I’ll teach you two words that aren’t as common as most words that I’ve taught you. However, one of our members asked about it. So, I decided to teach them to you.
Words
former
latter
Former most often refers to the first of two previously mentioned items. Can also mean only previously. Latter refers to the second of the two.
Practice
We bought some food and new toys for the orphanage (孤儿院).
The former we gave to the orphanage employees; the latter we gave to the kids.
The former two presidents were good, however, some didn’t like the latter.
I had two former students who were both great. However, the latter one was the best.
My former bosses were always generous. But, the latter one wasn’t as much.
My last two schools were very easy. The former one was nearby, but, the latter one was far away.
Our last two leaders were both good. The former one served a long time, however, the latter one did only a year.
Like I said. These are not as common as most of the words I’ve taught you. However, you can use them. When you do, you’ll sound more like a native English speaker.
That’s all of today.
Goodbye for now.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Thank you for your lessons.
