Theresa May pledged to take Britain out of the European Union’s single market—which guarantees the free movement of goods, capital, services and people within the EU—when it leaves the bloc. The prime minister said she wanted a free-trade agreement with the EU but also “trade deals around the world”. Mrs May confirmed Parliament would vote on the final deal. The pound jumped.
