News reversal refers to the phenomenon of information dissemination that appears at news, but with the disclosure of more information, the incident has undergone at least one reversal, which is inconsistent with some or all of the information initially presented, and at the same time leads to large fluctuations in public opinion.
There are many reasons for the emergence of the news reversal.
Firstly, there is a certain contradiction between news authenticity and news timeliness. The pursue of reporting speed and neglect of confirmation easily threatens the accuracy and authenticity of news.
Secondly, the emergence of social media enables people to have a voice channel, but at the same time, information checks are also weakened. It is irrational for individuals to express their opinions and spread information based on emotions.
Thirdly, The stereotypes coming from some media or people is also one of the reasons. For example, in the Chongqing bus crash incident, some media labeled the party as a “female driver” and attribute the accident to her poor skills.
Facing this situation, we should deal with it from government, traditional media, self-media and our ordinary citizens. For us, firstly, as an information producer, we should not take the initiative to produce fasle information. Secondly, we should walk out our comfort zone actively.
