David Suchet's memory of his mum.
Hello, I’m David Suchet and we all know that it’s a given that at some time in our lives we’ll be losing who are near and dear to us, those who we love.
My mum died in 1992, and when I went to her flat to sort out the things. I found this. This is her answer phone tape and I wrote on it ‘Mum 1991’. But I haven’t heard for years and years and years. Play. That’s here.
May not work.
"Hello, I’m sorry there is no one here to take your call at the moment but but if you would care to leave your name and telephone number and the time you called, we will ring you on our return. Thank you." (His mum's recorded voice).
My goodness my… That’s actually…I have to be honest, that is not her real voice. Why do I say that because my mum always put on a posh voice to her answer phone machine, but its the only recording of my darling mum’s voice that I had, and hearing this today is quite emotional.
Hospice Biographers give us all who are left behind chances to hear the biography the life stories that is important as anything, the voice of those that have left us but they’ll be in our memory forever.
