In this American English pronunciation video, we're going to go over the pronunciation of the word 'vacation'.

在这个美国英语发音视频中,我们要来回顾一下"假期"这个词的发音。

This week's word of the week is 'vacation'.

本周的一周单词是"休假"。

Vacation.

假期。

It's a three-syllable word with stress on the middle syllable.

这是一个三音节的单词,中间音节有重音。

Va-ca-tion. Vacation. It begins with the V consonant sound, where the bottom lip comes up and touches the bottom of the top front teeth, vv, vv.

Va-ca- tion。假期。它从V辅音开始,下唇上去,接触上前牙的底部,vv,vv。

Then it has the AY as in SAY diphthong.

然后,它有AY,如在SAY二十通。

The jaw does need to drop for that first sound of the diphthong, va-, va-.

下颚确实需要下降的第一声,第一声,va-,va-。

Then we have the K consonant sound, where the back part of the tongue will reach up here, kk, touch the soft palate and pull away to make the K sound.

然后我们有K辅音,舌头的后部会伸到这里,触摸柔软的口感,拉开,发出K声。

The stressed syllable also has the AY as in SAY diphthong.

强调音节也有AY,如在SAY diphthong。

Since this syllable is stressed, the jaw will probably drop a little bit more than it did in the unstressed syllable.

由于这个音节被强调,下巴可能会下降一点点比它在无应力音节。

Vaca-, -ca-.

瓦卡-,-卡.

Vacation.

假期。

The last syllable is the SH, schwa, N sound: -tion, -tion, -tion.

最后一个音节是SH,schwa,N声音:-tion,-tion,-tion。

You don't need to worry about making the schwa.

你不需要担心做施瓦。

The N sort of takes over that sound, -tion, -tion.

N种接管了那个声音,是的,是的。

Since it's unstressed, we do want it to be very fast.

因为它没有压力,我们确实希望它非常快。

And, it will be lower in pitch and flatter than -ca-, the stressed syllable.

而且,它的音高和扁平性会比-ca-,强调音节。

Vacation, vacation.

假期,假期
