A: Hi, I will have a trip to Shanghai next week. I've heard it is a beautiful city in China, isn't it?

A: I am told that Shanghai was formerly an unimportant fishing village. But now it has grown into one of the world's largest seaports and a major industrial and commercial center of China. Amazing changes! Would you please tell me more about it?

A: I read from one tourist information guide that, as you walk through Shanghai, it may feel as though you are entering a fair of world architecture or an art gallery of human civilization. Do you think the words are an exaggeration?

A: I see. Would you recommend some scenic spots worth visiting in Shanghai?

A: The guide also suggests that I visit the Yu Garden. What do you think of it?

A: Thank you very much for your detailed introduction

A: I can't wait to go to Shanghai. I am sure I will have a good stay in Shanghai.

B:Yes. Shanghai is located on the coast of the East China Sea, betweeh the mouth of the Yangtze River to the north and the Bay of Hangzhou to the south. If translated literally, it just means “on the sea.I bet you will have a wonderful visit there for Shanghai is truly a fascinating city often nicknamed Oriental Pearl.”

B:Ok. You know, Shanghai first opened to the outside world in the 19th century as a result ofthe expansion of foreign nations and, more recently, has reopened to the outside world since the 1980s. Now, Shanghai has become China's most energetic and cosmopolitan city. It has attracted immigrants from within China as well as abroad. Its residents are known for their business talents, quick wit, and sophistication. A tourist city, Shanghai attracts travelers from home and abroad because of both its commercial activity and its scenic beauty.

B: Oh, I don't think they are an exaggeration. In fact, Shanghai is unique among world cities in its variety of architectural styles. This variety reflects the wisdom and efforts of architects, engineers, and workersboth foreign and domesticand is a precious legacy to the world.

B: Sure. First, I'd like to recommend you the Bund. Once the most famous street in Asia, it is a tree-lined promenade along the Huangpu River. Attracted by its grandeur, many major firms of the Far East had their headquarters in the buildings facing the river.

B: Yu Garden is another place worth visiting. It is characteristic of the architectural style of the Ming dynasty. It is a private garden in the southeast of Shanghai, with a history of more than 400 years. The Garden, which is reminiscent of those in Suzhou, features more than 30 halls and pavilions. It is divided into six parts, each separated by a white brick wall, the top of which forms an undulating gray dragon. Each part of the park, although divided, has balance and harmony creating a unity of expression

B: You are welcome. And there are many other places you can't miss touring, such as the Pudong area, Shanghai Botanical Gardens, Shanghai Museum, Oriental Pearl TV Tower. etc.

B: Wish you a good tour in Shanghai!

After 35 years’ development, China is evolving from the preliminary stage of mass tourism to an intermediate or even advanced stage. In five years to come, the prospect is to face the significant tasks of how to make more citizens involved in tourism activities, of how to give the basic travel rights to those rural and urban residents with low and medium incomes, and of how to make higher quality services available to tourists. To a country with a large population of 1.3 billion, some haven’t yet really enjoyed a sightseeing trip; whereas others already start being picky about the custom tourism packages worth RMB 100,000. Urban people want an escape from the jungles of reinforced concretes, while rural people and people living in the countryside and mountains want to live a modern city life.

Since the Central Government has expressed its confidence in development, local governments at various levels should put more efforts into the construction of high-speed railways, airports, expressways, passenger terminals at lakes, rivers and seas, and other tourism infrastructures; into the development of public services such as tourism inquiry centers, tourism publicity and promotion, tourist satisfaction monitoring, and handling of tourist complaints; into the development

of financial and industrial centers, modern technical applications and youth's startup and innovation. In doing this, we have more optional market entities available for the general public to participate in tourism activities. The equalization of the rights to travela great historic progress evercannot exclude the cooperation between international capital owners and the Chinese tourism sectors, either. With further opening-up, China will attract international capital, introduce new technologies and talents into the domestic tourism market. China will also introduce business patterns of tourism services, hotel management, theme parks, cultural activity, car rental, recreational vehicles and camping. An open, versatile tourism industry system is forming at an accelerated pace.

While stressing the fundamental domestic tourism market, we are also aware that outbound tourism is an essential part of the Chinese citizens travel rights as well; it requires the joint efforts of all the governments and tourism industry around the world, including the Chinese government, so as to ensure that a high-quality exotic life experience could be feasted by tourists. As a matter of fact, regardless of China's increasing trade deficit, there is so far no sign suggesting that China will tighten the supervision over the export-bound market. On the contrary, China is willing to see that tourist destinations in more countries or regions, will be part of the prosperity of China's overseas tourism. Also, China will do its utmost to educate its citizens to be civilized and well-behaved while travelling abroad. China's President Xi Jinping mentioned the problems of overseas tourism many times. During his visit to South Asia, Xi talked amiably to the tourists, saying that"Do not throw water bottles here and there; do not damage the coral reef; eat less instant noodles and eat more local seafood". The National Tourism Administration is repeatedly promoting and guiding tourists' compliance with The Tourism Etiquette Rules for the Chinese citizens Travelling Overseas

In comparison with the hurried tours over ten years ago, the Chinese tourists of today are expecting to share an in-depth experience of the cultures and folk customs in different countries and regions, to share their high quality lifestyles and to be treated with adequate tolerance and great hospitality, thus to feeling themselves the real Welcome Chinese. According to China Tourism Academy's investigation of eight consecutive season on the satisfaction level of the Chinese tourists travelling overseas, apart from the great satisfaction with tourist destinations such as Canada, France, New Zealand, Singapore and Spain, the Chinese tourists made a lot of complaints in terms of the Chinese language reception, Chinese food, TV, newspaper, network and other Chinese language information, as well as of the tolerance by local residents. As an old Chinese saying goes,"Picky customers are potential buyers". The Chinese touristspicky attitude is a reflection of what they expect of the country of destination, and by doing this, they hope to improve the tourism reception environment and service quality.

If you visit only one place in South Africa, make it Cape Town. It is reputed to be South Africa’s most beautiful and most visited city. You will find Cape Town nestling below Table Mountain, which stands sentinel over the city. Few cities in the world possess its beauty and style. Even though Cape Town is relatively small, there is plenty to see and do. The architecture is a mix of Dutch and English colonial styles. Attractions include the Castle of Good Hope, built in the 17th Century and the District Six Museum. The city is a happy collision of many things: The Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet here, as well as vineyards, beaches and all types of Mediterranean cuisine, all cradled by Table Mountain. It is also the second-biggest city in South Africa for business, right behind Johannesburg, but infinitely better looking and more relaxed.

The city has often been likened to San Francisco, but Cape Town has what San Francisco can never haveits spectacular mountain. Table Mountain is key to Cape Towns identity. Wherever you are, you will see the huge flat topped icon overlooking the buildings in the city. It dominates the city in a way that is difficult to imagine until you visit. In the afternoon, when creeping clouds spill over the mountain, the whole town seems to shiver and hold its breath. Depending on which side of the mountain you live, it ever dictates when the sun will rise and set. Many ambitious visitors attempt to climb the mountain, but by far the most relaxing route to the top is via the cable car, which goes  through a 360 degree turn on its way to the top to provide a dizzying panoramic view.

Cape Town is surprisingly small. A stroll through the lovely city center reveals vestiges of Cape Towns three centuries. While the British and Dutch may have colonized South Africa, thankfully their influence did not make it to the food. And everywhere, whether you're eating outdoors at one of the country's best restaurants or sipping wine atop Table Mountain, you sensecorrectlythat this is South Africa's most urbane, civilized city. Modern South Africa was born here, and today it is a meeting place for Africa and the rest of the world, which gives its own particular vibrancy.

Cape Town is home to the country's best museums, restaurants, and hotels. The diverse cultural heritage is evident when one visits the various national museums and sights such as the Castle Good Hope, dating back to the Dutch East Indies Company, the South African Cultural History Museum, and the District 6 Museum.
