051 Level 2 迟到与请假-跟读版

1. I am so sorry I’m late. But I was stuck in the middle of traffic. Somebody needs to do something about that roundabout. 很抱歉我迟到了。路上交通太堵了。那个环岛总得有人修修吧。

2. You are not gonna believe what just happened that made me late! I saw an UFO hovering above the sky. 说出来你不信我今天为什么迟到了。我刚看见天上浮着一个飞碟。

3. Nobody feels guiltier than me for being late.  没有人比我对迟到感到更加愧疚的了。

4. I am not going to insult you with all the cliche excuses for being late. 我不会找那些老掉牙的理由搪塞你为什么我迟到了。（我不会用那些常见的迟到理由侮辱你。）

5. I have been wrestling with whether or not I should lie to my boss about showing up late for work.  我一直在犹豫要不要骗老板为什么上班迟到了。

 6. You’d better call in to let your supervisor know that you are about to be late. 你最好致电你的领导让他知道你要迟到了。

 7. I am sorry to ask you on such short notice, but I really need to take a day off. 很抱歉这么突然，不过今天我真的需要请假。

8. Nothing upsets me more than somebody coming in to work sick. 我最不赞成（讨厌）有人病了还来坚持上班。（我坚决反对）

9. Family reasons are always legit for showing up late for work. 家庭原因总是上班迟到最为接受的理由。

 10. Statistics show that younger people are more likely to call in sick than older people.数据表明相对年长者，年轻人更容易请假不上班。
