Jackie: Well, for starters, it’s unbelievably safe. You can walk around anytime, anywhere and you won’t get mugged or pickpocketed.

Xiaoming: I guess so. Can you not walk aroundin the U.S. like that?

Jackie: Uh, it depends (on) where you are. Some places are really safe, but some are pretty sketchy.

Xiaoming: Gotcha. What else do you like aboutChina?

Jackie: Definitely the cuisine and thepeople. I love hot pot so much, and I love having beers and skewers on the side of the road. Eating and chatting with people is how Ilearned Chinese.
