艺术故事

Amedeo Modigliani was a good-looking and popular artist.

He mostly painted portraits, but he did not paint peoples’ eyes completely.

One day, he painted a portrait of his wife Jeanne.

She asked him, “Why didn’t you paint my pupils?”

Modigliani said, “When I know your soul, then I will draw your pupils.”

People say, “The eyes are windows to the soul.”

Why didn’t Modigliani draw pupils?

He did not know his models’ souls.

So he did not paint their pupils.

But maybe Modigliani could not have the courage to look straight into their eyes.

Unfortunately, Modigliani died young.
