Hi kids, do you know what I was just doing?
小朋友们，你们猜一猜我刚才在做什么呢？
That’s right! I was praying for world peace.
你们猜对了！我是在为这个世界的和平祈祷。
So today we are going to be discussing Millet.
今天我们要讨论到Millet。

Millet is famous for his paintings of the French countryside.
Millet的特色是他的法国的乡村风景画。
And two of his most famous masterpieces are The Angelus and The Gleaners.
他的两个杰作是The Angelus and The Gleaners。

Now The Angelus is a painting that depicts a couple at the end of the day, heads bowed down in a field.
The Angelus描绘一对夫妇在一天的最后时间，在一个田野里低着头，在祈祷。
At the time, France was a Catholic country.
那时候，法国是个天主教的国家。
And every day at breakfast lunch and dinner, the local church bells would ring.
早餐、午餐和晚餐时间，都会有教堂的钟声。
During these times, everyone would stop what he’s doing and pray, in honor of the Virgin Mary and for the birth of the Jesus.
这时候，大家都会停下来祈祷，向the Virgin Mary和耶稣的诞生致敬。
During Millet’s time, these sort of things were very very common.
在Millet这个时代 这样的场景非常普遍。
