青蛙与牛

Two frogs are playing near a pond.

两只青蛙在池塘边玩耍。

Baby Frog：Big Brother, ribbit, ribbit. Why don't we go home now?

小青蛙：哥哥,呱呱，呱呱。为什么我们现在不回家呢？

Brother Frog: Let's stay a little longer, Baby Frog.

青蛙哥哥：咱们再玩一会儿，小青蛙。

Baby Frog:We should go home. Mother Frog is waiting for us. She told us to come home for lunch. She will be worried.

小青蛙：我们应该回家了。妈妈在等我们呢。她说过让我们回家吃午饭的。咱们不回去她会很担心的。

Brother Frog: Don't worry, Baby Frog. It's only noon. I want to play a little longer.

青蛙哥哥：别担心，小青蛙。这才刚刚中午。我还想再玩一会儿呢。

Baby Frog：Come on, Big Brother Frog. Let's go home.

小青蛙：快点吧，哥哥。咱们赶紧回家吧。

Brother Frog: Let's play for five more minutes.

青蛙哥哥：咱们再玩五分钟把。

Just then, a Farmer and his Ox pass the pond. The two frogs jump into the pond to hide. Theystick their heads out of the water and watch the Farmer and the Ox pass by. They have never seen such a big animal before.

就在这时，一个农夫牵着牛经过池塘。两只青蛙赶紧跳进了池塘里藏起来。他们把头悄悄伸出水面看着农夫和牛慢慢走过。他们可从来没有见过这么庞大的动物。

Brother Frog: What was that, ribbit, ribbit?

青蛙哥哥：那是什么动物呀，呱呱，呱呱？

Baby Frog：I don't know, but it was very big.

小青蛙：我不知道，但它真的好大啊。

Brother Frog: Yes. It was very big. It was bigger than Mother Frog.

青蛙哥哥：是呀。真的好大啊。比妈妈还大。

Baby Frog：So what? Let's go home now.

小青蛙：那又怎么样？咱们赶紧回家吧。

The two Frogs follow the Ox from behind when suddenly the Ox turns around. Baby Frog doesn't see the Ox's hoofs.

两只青蛙紧紧地跟着牛的脚印，但牛突然转身了。小青蛙看不见牛的脚印了。

Farmer: Let's go back to the farm.

农夫：咱们回农场吧。

Ox: Moo...Moo...

牛：哞……哞……

Brother Frog: Watch out, Baby Frog! Jump! Quickly!

青蛙哥哥：小心，小青蛙！快跳！快点!

Baby Frog：What? Ribbit, ribbit. Uh...

小青蛙：什么？呱呱。呃……

Baby Frog is crushed by the Ox. He is dead.

就这样小青蛙被牛踩死了。

Brother Frog: Baby Frog! Baby Frog!

青蛙哥哥：小青蛙！小青蛙！

There is no answer.

但是小青蛙毫无反应。

Brother Frog: Oh my goodness! What shall I do? I must hurry home. I must tell Mother Frog. She will be very sad.

青蛙哥哥：噢，天哪！我该怎么办？我得赶快回家。我得告诉青蛙妈妈。她知道了一定会很伤心的。

Big Brother Frog hops home and tells Mother Frog what has happened.

青蛙哥哥赶忙跳回家，告诉妈妈发生的事情。

Mother Frog: Why are you alone, Big Brother Frog? Where is Baby Frog, ribbit, ribbit?

青蛙妈妈：怎么你一个人回来了，大青蛙？小青蛙呢，呱呱？

青蛙妈妈：天哪！天哪！我那可怜的小青蛙。那怪物长什么样子？

Brother Frog: It had horns and a long tail. And it was very, very big.

青蛙哥哥：它的头顶上有触角，而且还有一条长长的尾巴。它真的很大很大。

Mother Frog: You mean the Farmer's Ox. How big was it?

青蛙妈妈：你是说农夫的牛吧。它到底有多大？

Brother Frog: It was as big as a mountain.

青蛙哥哥：像一座山那么大。

Mother Frog: An Ox isn't that big.

青蛙妈妈：牛可没那么大。

Brother Frog: It looked really big to me.

青蛙哥哥：但是我觉得牛真的很大。

Mother Frog: How big was it again?

青蛙妈妈：到底有多大？

Brother Frog: Bigger than you, Mother Frog.

青蛙哥哥：比你大，青蛙妈妈。

Mother Frog: Bigger than me? Are you sure?

青蛙妈妈：比我大吗？你确定吗？

Brother Frog: Yes.

青蛙哥哥：是的。

The Mother Frog puffs up her belly.

于是青蛙妈妈鼓起她的肚子。

Mother Frog: Was it this big?

青蛙妈妈：有这么大吗？

Brother Frog: No, Mother Frog. Much bigger.

青蛙哥哥：不，青蛙妈妈。比这个还大。

Mother Frog: Much bigger?

青蛙妈妈：比这个还大？

Brother Frog: Yes, yes.

青蛙哥哥：是的，是的。

The Mother Frog puffs up her belly more than before.

青蛙妈妈将她的肚子鼓得更大了。

Mother Frog: How about this? Was it bigger than this?

青蛙妈妈：这样呢？比这还大吗？

Brother Frog: Oh, much bigger than that.

哥哥青蛙：哦，比这大多了。

Mother Frog: Really? How about this?

青蛙妈妈：真的？那这样呢？

Brother Frog: You are not even close. The Ox was much bigger than you.

青蛙哥哥：你跟牛差得太远了。牛比你大得多。

The Mother Frog again puffs up her belly even more. Big Brother Frog keeps shaking his head.

青蛙妈妈再次鼓起她的肚子。青蛙哥哥还是不停地摇着头。

Mother Frog: It can't be bigger than this.

青蛙妈妈：牛一定没我肚子这么大。

Brother Frog: Its legs are bigger than that.

青蛙哥哥：牛的腿都比你的肚子大。

By this time, Big Brother Frog gets a little worried. Mother Frog's belly is already very swollen. It looks like it is going to burst any minute.

这时，青蛙哥哥有点担心。青蛙妈妈的肚子已经很大了。好像随时要爆炸一样。

Mother Frog: Okay. Wait just a minute. I'll try to puff myself up one more time.

青蛙妈妈：好的。等一下。我再试一试。

Mother Frog: I'll show you.

The Mother Frog is swollen like a balloon. Finally, it happens. The Mother Frog's belly bursts! Pop!

青蛙妈妈涨得像个气球。最后，不幸发生了。青蛙妈妈的肚子砰地一声炸了！

Brother Frog: Oh my goodness! Mother Frog! Mother Frog! Wake up! Wake up! Please！What shall I do? Boo-hoo.
