1、*category

['kætɪɡəri]

n. 种类; 范畴

Voters fall into three main categories.

选民分为三大类。

2、classification

[ˌklæsɪfɪ'keɪʃən]

n. 归类，分类，分级

The classification of books in the library helps you to find the books you want.

图书馆的图书分类有助于人们找到需要的书籍。

3、*lean

 [liːn] 

v. 倾斜; 倚，靠  

adj. 苗条的，瘦而健康的; （组织、公司等）精简的；收益少的

lean meat powder  瘦肉精

She leaned forward and whispered something in my ear.

她俯身过来和我耳语了几句。

lean on sb. 依靠某人

The couple lean on each other for support. 

夫妻俩互相扶持。

4、*incline

 [ɪn'klaɪn]

v. （使）倾斜；（使）倾向于，有……的趋势

I incline to the view that we should take no action at this stage.

我倾向于认为我们在这个阶段不应采取行动。

inclination  n. 斜坡；倾向，爱好

Teachers simply do not have the time or the inclination to investigate these matters. 

老师们根本没有时间、也无意调查这些事。 

5、slope

[sləʊp]

n. 斜坡，斜面

Snow had settled on some of the higher slopes. 

雪堆积在一些较高的山坡上。

6、*decline

[dɪ'klaɪn]

vi. / n. （逐渐）减少；衰落    vt. 谢绝

Profits have declined as a result of the recent drop in sales.

由于近期销量下滑，利润有所降低。

He declined my offer /invitation. 

他拒绝了我的提议/邀请。

7、*satisfy

v. 使满意；满足（要求、需要等）；使确信，使信服

satisfactory adj. 令人满意的

8、cater

['keɪtə]

v. 提供饮食，承办酒席；满足，迎合 

Which firm will be catering at the wedding reception? 

将由哪家公司承办婚宴？

Most perfume ads cater to male fantasies. 

大多数的香水广告都迎合男性的幻想。

9、saturate

['sætʃəreɪt]

v. 使湿透，浸透；使充满，使饱和

Our culture is saturated with television and advertising.

我们的文化里充斥着电视和广告。

10、soak

[səʊk]

v. 浸泡, 浸湿, 浸透

Soak the clothes in cold water. 

把衣服浸泡在冷水里。
