1. Look after          

Meaning:Watch or protect; to keep safe

E.g. He asked me tolookafter his daughter while he was away


2. Look ahead

Meaning:Consider the future, to anticipate future events

E.g. You should forget the past and look ahead

3. Look around      

Meaning1: Inspect a building or area

E.g. We’re interested in buying this house.Can we look around tomorrow?


Meaning2: Search a place

E.g. I can’t find my keys, so I’ll look around


Meaning3: Turn one’s head to see what is behind oneself

E.g. He heard a voice and looked around to see a man waving to him.

Meaning1: Consider

E.g. I looked at the possibility of buying a new car, but my current one still runs great andit’s paid off


Meaning2: To read something quickly

Meaning3: To confront or face something

Meaning:Summon; to cause to depart

Eg: Peter was called away from the meetingto deal with a medical emergency.

Meaning1: Shout out in order to summon (a person) 喊某人

Eg: Peter leant out of the back door andcalled for Laura.

Meaning2: Ask for in a loud voice 大声要求

Eg: Peter finished the main course andcalled for wine.

Meaning3: Request, demand  要求 

Eg: This situation calls for a high degreeof courage.

3. Call in            

Meaning1: Communicate with a base etc, by telephone call in sick 请病假)

Eg: I was too unwell to work yesterday so Icalled in sick.

Meaning2: Summon someone, especially for help or advice 召集

Eg: The government called in the army todeal with the riots.

4. Call off          

Meaning:Recall; to cancel or call a halt to 取消

Eg: We can’t make it to the meeting becauseof the weather. We have to call it off.
