在我的家乡，

人们不会说出他想要什么，

白天任何时候都不会，

哪怕轻声耳语

——晚上偶尔会。我们

因循而自在

心怀抱负却从不声张。

主要原因，不是

我们有意欺瞒，而是

会更好。

Where I come from,

A man doesn’t say what he wants,

Every moment of the day,

And sometimes less at night

Even in a whisper. We walk

A comfortable path of convention,

Keeping our ambitions hidden,

Mostly, not especially because

We want to fool anyone, but because

Lives are better when dressed

In the fabric of silence.
