Hey everyone, welcome to MT English. And this is your host Yale. And in this section I wanna share with you are my own experience on working in one of the world’s most glamorous city, also know as the capital of the film world——Hollywood.
So what comes to your mind when you think about Hollywood. Famous actors, the Hollywood Walk of Fame(星光大道), red carpet belt(红毯); movie studios; a lot of money; or a place where people have a chance to succeed?
Well, that’s just the glamorous sight that the entertainment industry wants you see. The real deal and real experience exactly pretty different. So after graduating from film school, I spent some time doing some training in Hollywood. So let me try to answer some of your questions before you even ask them.
Yes, sometimes we do see famous people like famous actors on set or on the street. There is a one time when I saw Tom Cruise (汤姆克鲁斯)Jolin on the street in west Hollywood. And there was another time when I can face to face with Tony Liang (梁朝伟)on a commercial shoot at a ****(待核实)。
And "no", the jobs in the film industry are not at all glamorous and not all fun. It's just has lots and lots of work. Consider this, walking in the red carpet if you actually get chance to walk, it’s probably just one percent of your job in the film industry, the rest are negotiating, deals, talking to an investors, agency and then working, working, working
12 hours a day. Sometimes even 14 or 16 hours a day.
And let’s face it , less than one percent of the people that come to Hollywood to seek fame and fortune actually succeed. And is also an known fact that more than fifty percent of the people come to work in Hollywood to leave their dream of making movies. They give up in a year.
The real sight of Hollywood is pretty ***(待核实)at all. It’s all the people who are not working in the sport light and all the actors that never made it to the top. And of course there is loads, loads and loads of hard work. But hey, don’t let me discourage you if you want to dream big. After all, you only be able to be succeed if you are decided to take that first step.
And I have an ending question for all of you. What do you dream of doing 5 or 10 years from now? Please tell me in the comment section. I’d love to know. So that’s all for today, and stay tune for more interesting context on MT English. Bye!
