Brian: Hey, man. What’s wrong?

Mike: Ugh. I think I’m gonna break up with Karen.

Brian: Why?? What happened?

Mike: She’s just…I dunno. She’s started acting cutesy all the time. It’s embarrassing when it’s in public.

Brian: Well, this is China, though. That’s pretty standard here.

Mike: Yeah, I’m just having trouble getting used to it.

1) What’s wrong?

a. = You ok? 用于关切朋友

b. 注意区分：What’s wrong with you? 适用于争吵场合

2) Break up with

a. 常见用法：We broke up（常用过去时）

b. 文化差异：分手在西方文化中更严肃，不会拿来开玩笑

3) Start doing

Eg. We started dating five years ago, but she still forgets my birthday.

4) Get used to…

a. =be used to习惯做某事

b. 搭配名词或现在分词（doing）

5) All the time

a. =always 搭配动词，用在句末

Eg. I go there all the time!

6) Pretty

a. 相当，很（修饰形容词）

b. 比very 更常用、更地道

Eg. It’s pretty hot today.

How’s a pretty good restaurant.

7) Have trouble

a. have trouble with sth./sb. 有…苦恼；跟…闹纠纷

b. have trouble doing sth. 在做…方面有苦恼

8) 撒娇文化

a. ‘acting cutesy’ or ‘throwing a hissy fit’

b. cutesy 忸怩作态的，故意讨人喜爱的

c. hissy fit 使性子，耍孩子脾气

d. 文化差异：在西方不常见，偏贬义，在英语中也没有完全对应的词
