Much and many

Use much with uncountable nouns and many with countable nouns.

1. How much new software do we need to install?

2. How many computers do we need to service?

Much and many are not usually used in positive sentences. In positive sentences use a lot of / lots of, which can be used with countable and uncountable nouns.

1. There is a lot of/ lots of new software to install.

2. There are a lot of / lots of computers to service.
