Some and any

Some is used with plural, countable and uncountable nouns.

Some is used in positive sentences, offers and requests, and questions where we expect the answer yes.

1. I have some new keyboards for the computers.

2. I have some software to install on your computer.

3.Do you want some coffee?  (expect the answer yes)

4. Excuse me? Can I have some coffee / tea pelase ? (expect the answer yes)

Any is used with uncountable nouns and plural countable nouns in negatives and questions.

1. Do you have any new keyboards?

2. There isn't any new software.
