breaking the ice：破冰

1. When first talking to someone, try making a funny joke. And you want to maintain eye contact and truly listen to what the person have to say in response.

第一次主动找人说话想要认识对方的时候，可以尝试用一个笑话来开场。保持眼神交流认真听人讲话，这些都是为了展示你的真诚。

2. In order to have a real, meaningful conversation try and find a common interest with the person your talking to. 

为了能进行真正有意义的交谈，可以尝试找找彼此间的共同点。

3. make small talks 闲扯（聊天气）

-It’s a beautiful day out today. 今天天气真好哈！

-Is it cold in here or is it just me? 你觉不觉得有点儿冷啊？

-Man, it’s hot today! 天哪！今天太热了！

4. 在聚会或者派对上：

I don’t think we have met before, hi I’m XXX.

5. You could also try and jump into someone else’s conversation. But be careful when doing so, this can be tricky and seem a little rude if not done with tact. 你可以插入别人的对话。但是要小心，要找准适当的时机，不要太粗鲁唐突。

OMG I love XXX, have you seen his latest movie?

 哦天哪我好喜欢XXX，你们有看他最近的电影吗？

Are you guys talking about blah blah, I just read a book about it last week. 

你们是在聊...吗？我上周刚读了一本关于那个的书。

6. You could also try giving someone a compliment. 

通过赞美破冰 

-WOW! I love your shoes.  哇！我喜欢你的鞋子诶！

-Your skin is so beautiful. 你皮肤太好了吧！

-I really like your bag. 我喜欢你的包包！

We also have to remember to have a follow up question when complimenting.

 同时别忘了，再跟上一个问题。

-WOW! I love your shoes. Where did you buy those shoes?

 哇！我喜欢你的鞋子诶！你在哪买的啊？

-Your skin is so beautiful. What is your secret for such beautiful skin? 

你皮肤太好了吧！有什么秘诀吗？

-I really like your bag. Can I ask how much the bag was?

 我喜欢你的包包诶！方便问问多少钱吗？
