A little boy planted a carrot seed.

一个小男孩种下了一颗胡萝卜种子。

His mother said,

"I'm afraid it won't come up."

他妈妈告诉他：“恐怕这颗种子不会长大。”

His father said,

"I'm afraid it won't come up."

他爸爸也告诉他：“恐怕这颗种子不会长大。”

And his big brother said,

 "It won't come up."

他的哥哥也告诉他：“这颗种子不会长大。”

Every day the little boy pulled up

the weeds around the seed

and sprinkled the ground with water.

每天小男孩都拔去种子周围的杂草

并且给土浇水。

But nothing came up.

但是什么也没有长出来。

And nothing came up.

还是什么都没有长出来。

Everyone kept saying

it wouldn't come up.

每一个人都在不停地告诉他

这种子不会长出来。

But he still pulled up the weeds around it

every day and sprinkled the ground withwater.

但他依然每天都拔去种子周围的杂草

并且给土浇水。

And then, one day,

然后，有一天，

a carrot came up

一个胡萝卜长出来了

just as the little boy had known it would.

就像小男孩所希望的那样。
