International travel makes people more prejudiced rather than broad-minded. Why? How to improve the understanding of countries they visit?

Because another country has a different culture and their own lifestyle practices, travellers might find it distasteful. For example, in some cultures, it is considered polite when people say hello to strangers, but if someone comes from a country where people keep to themselves, they may think they are being unnecessarily bothered when others say hello or greet them.

Afterall, Most of what we think is ‘best’ is just what we’re most used to. Sometimes, even when they read something about their travelling destination, they may form certain preconceived ideas. Reading a book “with understanding” would educate one’s mind of the intent and purpose of the writer, while travelling to a new destination “with understanding” should educate travellers about the destination’s essence. However many travellers do not open their mind to understand the essense of their destination, but travel there to see or compare the destination with what they already have in mind.
