Warm-up Question: How often do you eat fish? Do you like it?
Ryoshi means fisherman in Japanese. However, in Taiwan, a ryoshi’s job is more than just catching and selling fish. Teaching the public about fish is an important part of their job. They also teach ways to cook and eat fish.
In Taiwan, fishermen’s associations do most of the fish education. However, some ryoshi do it independently. For example, Fiynman fishes at Shimen Reservoir in Taoyuan. He learned about fishing from his father, but that’s not all. He still studies and works on the subject. Fiynman works hard to teach people about reservoir fish. He holds events with Taoyuan Fishery Association(桃园区渔会). He even started his own brand to share his ideas.
