Su Bingtian, China's star sprinter, is to miss the Paris Olympics.

Su became the first Chinese runner to qualify for a men's 100 metres Olympic final and had set an Asian record in the semi-final. But he skipped last year's Asian Games, citing "accumulated injuries". 

"My final dream is to run in the 2025 National Games in my hometown," said the sprinter, who was born in Guzhen, a town on the outskirts of Zhongshan.
