Then, Mom added flour, salt, and baking powder. Alex mixed, mixed and mixed. The batter looked thick and lumpy.
Mom said, "Keep mixing."

Alex poured the batter into a cake pan. He then put the cake pan in the oven.
Alex waited. The cake smelled sweet and sugary. His mouth watered.
Mom pulled the cake out of the oven. The top was golden brown.
"The cake is ready to eat, Alex!” called his mom.
