South Korean trainee doctors walked off their jobs to protest a government push to recruit more medical students, triggering cancellations of surgeries and other medical treatments. More than 6,400 medical interns and residents had submitted resignations. 

Many said that schools won’t be able to handle so many new students and having too many doctors could lead to unnecessary medical treatments due to increased competition.
