【明星说英语】陈冠希：8年来，我唯一放不下的事

I want to fucking act. It’s like my therapy. I really wanna start filming movie. I mean that’s the only negative thing in my life. That’s my passion, and it’s like they’re taking my passion away and they won. That’s the only way that they won.  I hate to admit it, but in every other thing, I don’t feel defeated, but in this one thing, it really bothers me man. Seven years now. Coming close to 8 years that I haven’t film or one of my films have been released. In the 8 years before that, I filmed 25 movies man. Maybe more, I don’t know. When you as a person in this world, you have to find who you are. I found what I wanna do, I found who I was, and now I can’t do that. 


But it’s a test to me, like who we are as a people and how we in China view things, and also about success and failure, man. In a certain sense, whatever happened to me, grounded me deeply. But also it gave me a new drive and  also new perspective on life like I just said. I think it was like the beginning of a new chapter. I don’t care if you hate me or if you love me, because in the end, he has become a consumer, you understand what I mean? He has become my consumer. 




I feel like in due time, when all settle down, like I said, I don’t want a music award, I don’t want the Oscar, maybe I will, but, I just want a life-time achievement award or some shit like that in China, when people were like “alright, fine, we really gonna give it up. “ Because life-time achievement awards are usually, actually really based on stuff that you’ve actually done, not only for yourself, but for everyone else too, you know. That’s what I want, for people to recognize that I’m not just some kid that has some street fasion brand, and sings hip-hop, and has some scandal. And that’s what defines my life. And that does not define my life because I pick myself back up and I became independent. And here I still am, and in five years I’ll still be there and I’ll be doing something else, whatever it is. And hopefully by then, people will understand and recognize, you know. That’s what drives me. So when people hate me, they actually give me power. So I gonna thank them. I wake up everyday just to prove them wrong.
