选择 /The Choice

有人说，
星宿陨落，山河震动
也有人说，
他们星宿下凡，
如今神仙归位。
其实他们也曾是普通人，
因奋斗自有光，
因大爱而崇高。
Someone says,
The earth will quake
When stars fall;
Others say,
They’ve returned to heaven,
Missions completed down here.
Whatever explanation of their death,
They were born mortals as we were,
But their choice has made them sublime,
Even divine.
星辰，
并不需要人们的仰望，
大海，
也从不需要陪伴，
是我们需要
把星辰大海装进心里，
把心点亮，
把心撑大，
把好过的日子过得更好，
把不好过的日子过下去。
Stars do not need our admiration,
Nor do oceans need our company.
It is we who need them
To light up and expand our hearts,
To survive, strive or thrive as if
Under some benevolent gaze from above.
平凡如我，
感谢他们，
用一生的坚守，
让我看见坚持的力量，
用无尽的爱，
让我明白人生的意义。
I want to thank them
For their lifelong dedication and boundless love
Which enables us to see
The power of grit
and the meaning of life.
什么是通行证，
什么是墓志铭，
北岛早就说过，
可正因为有无数人
义无反顾选择了后者，
才有了今天的中国。
平凡如我，
也同样可以这样选择。
To go high or go low is a choice.
Virtue is sometimes doomed,
While ignobility can be a passport.
However, thanks to millions who chose the first,
Our country is where it is now.
Ordinary as I am,
I’d like to make the same choice.
