The newly released curriculum standard epitomizes the irreplaceable status of labor education by quantifying the courses of household skills students should receive and reassures our confidence in the indispensable role of learning household skills at schools.

Household skills, the very basis of one’s daily life, should in no regard be laid great emphasis on, as labor education not merely develops one’s working skills, but nurtures one’s good mindset, such as patience for dealing with the trivial stuffs in life. That is to say, the hone of household skills is not necessarily binary opposite but fundamentally reciprocal to the academic learning process. For instance, the treasured quality a student gains from the exposure to chores in daily life, such as patience and carefulness, might gradually improve his or her academic performance. Thus, there is a great necessity to make it compulsory for students to receive education in household skills at schools.

To sum up, the experience of engaging in learning the basic household skills can invariably benefit students in fostering their key abilities and all-round development at their younger ages.
