A hungry Fox found in a hollow tree a quantity of bread and meat, which some shepherds had placed there against their return.

一只饥饿的狐狸在一棵空心树里发现了一些面包和肉，这些都是牧羊人在他们回来之前放在那里的。

Delighted with his find he slipped in through the narrow aperture and greedily devoured it all.

他高兴地从狭窄的洞口钻了进去，贪婪的饱餐了一顿。

But when he tried to get out again he found himself so swollen after his big meal that he could not squeeze through the hole,

and fell to whining and groaning over his misfortune.

Another Fox, happening to pass that way, came and asked him what the matter was; and, on learning the state of the case, said,

另一只狐狸碰巧从那儿经过，走过来询问他是怎么回事，了解到情况后，他说，

"Well, my friend, I see nothing for it but for you to stay where you are till you shrink to your former size; you'll get out then easily enough."

“行了，我的朋友，我也想不出有什么办法，只能让你待在这儿，直到你恢复原来的身材；到那时你就可以毫不费劲地出去了。”
