Describe a historical period you would like to know more 历史时期

You should say:

When it was

What you are interested in

What you have known

And why you would like to know more

Before we got our economic reforms whichled to higher efficiency in the economy, China went through a lot and it hasbecome our important history. I want to stumble on the Tang Dynasty period(唐朝时期), which is our so-called greatest historic period. It was founded in 618and ended in 907 and was under the ruling(统治) of the famous Tang Emperors. I want to dive-deep(深入探讨)with further information aboutcivilization(文明)andeconomic conditions(经济状况)in that era. Particularly, I want to acknowledge more about the culture, military strength(军事力量), and politics that reached an exceptionally advanced level(特别先进的水平). At that time, I’m aware that we were known as themost powerful andthriving(繁荣昌盛的)country in the world during the Tang Dynasty. We were prosperous and wewere able to establish sustainableeconomic growth(经济持续增长).As one of thepatriotic(爱国的)young peoplein our country, I’m interested in finding value in my existence. I will have astrong sense ofnational identity(民族认同感)once I fully understand our history, especially the Tang Dynasty, which I am so curious about. I would conduct moreresearch on how it was started, how the emperor reigned and overthrown. On topof all reasons, it could also be beneficial in my field of study which isPolitical Science and Management.

Part 3

1. Should everyone know history?

Sure! There is no doubt about that(这是不容置疑的). Everyone, of all ages, must be familiar with wherethey came from. First and foremost, it gives us the tool to comprehendand explain problems in the past and to position us to perceive the patternsthat might otherwise be invisible in the present. Secondly, we are affected byevery change of the governance and society, whether we like it or not. In thatway, we can know more about the moral behavior of people, strengthen ourpatriotism(爱国精神)and identity, and give back to our nation.

2. In what ways can children learnhistory?

I highly recommend them to look for historical atlas(历史遗迹), since it demonstrates the timeline of the history. Those includehistorical charts and maps that depict the evolution ofGeopolitical(地缘政治的)studies. Historical books can also be asignificant and primary source of historical insights for children because itis more reliable and the images are demonstrated clearly. Plus, it went throughmany contentrevisions(修订内容)before being published to avoid implausible claims(不切实际的说法). Meanwhile, museums, historical sites, memorialsand galleries are also one good way to broaden their insights about history.Lastly, researching from the internet would be the easiest way for children tobe sensible about the past, however, it needs guidance from teachers andparents as some information online could beundependable(不可靠的).

3. Is it hard to protect historicalbuildings?

It depends on the funding of thegovernment and it would come from the Publix tax(公共税收)and donations. It cost a lot for preservation, restoration and upkeep(修复和维护)of the buildings itself and utilities. Besides, it is not aone-time payment only, because they should be maintained over years. At thesame time, there are factors that are out of the government’s control, such asthe weather. It is one of the main causes ofwreck(损坏)to historical buildings because thematerials might befragile(脆弱的)or sensitive to weather changes. Unfortunately, there are also somemoths, termites, bees or wasps that damage wooden-typed buildings as timepasses by.

4. Who should be responsible forprotecting historic buildings?

Well, in my mind, the majority of responsibility must beshouldered(肩负起)by the government. They are the ones who shouldallocate(分配)funds to therestorations(整修),upkeep(保养)and ifnecessary, for therenovation(翻新)of thehistorical buildings itself. Say, they must have available funds anytimein case that thecalamity(灾难)or otherproblems come up. However, the citizens should keep in mind that they also havea big contribution for the preservation of historical buildings, as such, theygive a portion of their tax to the government. To conclude, the government willdo the vast part for the historical building preservation and the citizens willalso do their part by paying their tax regularly. Also, they should havediscipline and behavioral ethics(行为理论)whenvisiting the places. They should do the bare minimum requirements(最低要求)likeavoid littering around, scratching the walls or something that will cause harmin the buildings and amenities.

5. Who should pay for the preservation ofhistoric buildings?

Thegovernment shouldstep-in(介入)in this matter.  Just like I said, the government hasthe authority, and obligation for the protection and preservation of thehistorical buildings. So, if the buildings have somefaults(故障)or damages, like if the walls werecracked(破裂的)or somestatues(雕像)have beenfractured(断裂的), forthis situation, the government should have theinitiative(主动权)to fix them and pay for all the fees. Besides, thepreservation of historical buildings is a huge and difficult project and mostof the time, they always need big funds. Therefore, I think only the governmenthas the ability to pay for these. Aside from income tax of the citizens, theycan get funds from governmentgrants(政府补贴),taxcredits(税收抵免), donations andfundraising(筹款)fromprivatesectors(私营部门).
