It was october,

那是在十月，

and all the world was orange and brown.

整个世界都是橙色和棕色的。

Dragon walked through the autumn leaves

小龙在秋天的落叶里漫步，

in search of a giant pumpkin.

想要找到一个巨大的南瓜。

"I will find a pumpkin as big as a house,"

“我要找到一个房子那么大的南瓜，”

said Dragon.

小龙说。

"Oh, what a scary jack-o'-lantern it will make."

“啊呀，它能做出多吓人的一个杰克南瓜灯啊。”

But when Dragon got to the pumpkin patch,

但是当小龙来到南瓜田的时候，

all of the big pumpkis were already gone.

他发现所有的大南瓜都已经不见了。

Only six small pumkins were left,

只剩下6个小小的南瓜，

and they were much too small to be scary.

但它们也太小了，根本做不成吓人的杰克南瓜灯。

Dragon loaded the six small pumpkins into his cart

小龙把这6个小小的南瓜装到他的车上

and brought them home anyway

不管怎么说，也只有带回家了。

Later,as Dragon sat carving his small pumpkins, 

之后，在小龙坐着雕刻他的小南瓜的时候，

a fox and a crocodile came by.

一只狐狸和一只鳄鱼刚好路过。

"What are you doing ?" asked the fox.

“你在做什么？”狐狸问道。

"I'm making scary jack-o'-lanterns," said Dragon,

“我在做吓人的杰克南瓜灯，”龙说。

"Those pumpkins are too small to be scary," said the fox.

“这些南瓜太小了，根本吓不到人，”狐狸说。

"Just wait,"said Dragon.

“你们等着瞧，”小龙说。

Dragon took one of the pumpkins

小龙拿出一只南瓜，

and poked branches into its sides.

把树枝插在它两边。

"That pumpkin looks stupid,"said the crocodile.

“那个南瓜看起来好傻，”鳄鱼说。

"No one will be afraid of your silly jack-o'-lanterns!"

“没有人会被你傻傻的杰克南瓜灯吓到的！”

"Just wait," said Dragon.

“等着瞧，”小龙说。

Dragon put candles into the pumpkins,

小龙把一根根蜡烛放到了南瓜里，

and they all lit up bright and orange.

现在南瓜们都发着橙色的亮光。

"Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha!"

“哈哈哈哈！”

laughed the fox and the crocodile.

狐狸和鳄鱼笑得四仰八叉。

"We've never seen such funny jack-o'-lanterns in all our lives!"

“我们从来没见过这么好笑的杰克南瓜灯！”

"Just wait,"said Dragon.

“你们就等着吧，”小龙回答说。

Finally,

最后，

Dragon stacked the pumpkins on top of  one anoter

小龙把南瓜一个个堆起来，

until they were very tall.

直到它们变得很高。

The fox and the crocodile stopped laughing.

现在狐狸和鳄鱼止住了笑声。

Their eyes became wide.

他们瞪大了眼睛。

They began to tremble and shake.

他们开始发抖打颤。

"Ah...aaaah!" cried the crocodile.

“啊~！”鳄鱼大叫起来。

"Oh...oooooh!"wailed the fox.

“哦~！”狐狸也哀号起来。

The fox and the crocodile ran off

狐狸和鳄鱼逃跑了。

through the woods,screaming in terror.

他们尖叫着穿过森林

"What's the matter with them?"said Dragon.

“他们怎么跑了？”小龙自言自语道。

Dragon scratched his big head

小龙挠着他的大脑袋

and looked up at the jack-o'-lanterns.

抬头看了一眼杰克南瓜灯。

"Aaah! Eeeh!Aaah!"screamed Dragon.

“啊！额！啊！”小龙发出了尖叫声。

Dargon ran into his house

小龙跑进他的房子里，

and hid under the bed.

躲到了床底下。

"I did not know

“我不知道

that six small pumpkins could be so scary!"

那6个小南瓜可以这么吓人啊！”

said Dragon.

小龙说。
