Day3《仲夏夜之梦》情节分析（Echo解读）-Part 1（冲突）

v Conflict:

v 我们在Level 3和Level 4的原著阅读中已经对conflict进行了详细地讲解，这里就不赘述了。Conflict在文学中被称为冲突，也就是主人公可能会与敌人、自然环境、甚至是自我产生矛盾，只有解决矛盾才会推进故事的发展，就是这些冲突矛盾会让情节变得有趣起来。

v Conflict 1: Hermia and Lysander love each other. Demetrius once loved Helena, Hermia’s best friend, but now loves Hermia. Helena still loves Demetrius.To solve this problem, Demetrius has to love Helena again, then there will be two couples, a balanced situation.

v Conflict 2: Fairy king Oberon wants the changeling boy. Fairy Queen didn’t want to give him away.To solve this problem, Oberon has to trick his queen.

v In today’s reading, you face two conflicts. Oberon has already figured out how to trick his queen, but you still don’t know whether Hermia will be sentenced to death or not. 

v Fairies:

History indicates the prior to Elizabethan times, fairies were considered evil spirits who stole children and sacrificed them to the devil.

Changeling: a baby that is believed to have been secretly exchanged for another baby by fairies〔传说中〕被〔仙女〕暗中调换的婴儿

Shakespeare, along with other writers, redefined fairies during this time period, turning them into gentle, albeit mischievous, spirits.

Puck, for example, brags about his ability to perform harmless pranks.

The title draws on the summer solstice（夏至）, Midsummer Eve, occurring June 23 and marked by holiday partying and tales of fairies and temporary insanity.
