《The Tortoise and the Eagle》
This is a story about a tortoise.
这是一个关于乌龟的故事。
He had everything a tortoise could want.
他拥有乌龟想要的一切。
He had a lovely log to sit on, juicy apples to eat and a very shiny shell.
他有一根可爱的原木可以坐，多汁的苹果可以吃，还有一个非常闪亮的龟壳。
（原木，log，就是把树木锯断后进行切割，被切割后的带皮的最自然的木段便是原木。）
But he wasn’t happy.
但是他并不快乐。
每天他都会坐在他的原木上仰望天空。
All day long, he saw an eagle in the sky.
小乌龟望着天上的雄鹰，就这样看了一整天。
Flying low. Flying high.
只见雄鹰一会儿低飞,一会儿飞得很高。
It had golden feathers and great big wings.
它有着金色的羽毛和巨大的翅膀。
“I wish I could fly,” said the tortoise. “I’ll try.”
乌龟想，“如果我也能飞，那该多好啊！” “我一定要试试。”
He climbed onto a rock… jumped into the air… and flopped onto his belly.
他努力爬上了岩石……（铆足力气）跳向空中……（然后，就听见扑通一声）他的肚子重重的摔在了地上。
“OOF!”
“好疼啊！”
He climbed up a tree… jumped into the air… and landed splat in a puddle.
只见他奋力爬上了一棵树……再次跳到空中，只听到啪嗒一声，他掉进了一个水坑里。
这时他抬起头，
He called to the eagle.
他呼唤天空中的雄鹰。
“Will you take me into the sky? I want to be like you.”
“你能把我带到天上吗？我想和你一样（在天上飞）。”
“What will you give me?” the eagle replied.
老鹰回答说，“你能给我什么？”
“You can have my log and my apples.”
“你可以拥有我的原木和苹果。”
“Very well,” said the eagle.
“成交。”
“I will take you into the sky.”
“我会把你带到天上的。”
Up and up the eagle rose… …up through the clouds to the bright blue sky.
雄鹰越飞越高…………很快他就穿过云层来到蔚蓝色的天空。
这时，雄鹰大喊道，“Hold on!” “坚持住！”。
The tortoise looked at the ground.
小乌龟低头看着陆地。
It was a very long way down.
它感觉非常的高，离地面很远。
He felt dizzy.
他感觉头晕了。
“Eagle,” he said. “I don’t like it up here.” “Please take me back!”
乌龟说道,“雄鹰，”我不喜欢待在这里。快带我回去！”
So the eagle took the tortoise back to the ground.
于是雄鹰只好把小乌龟带回了地面。
“Little tortoise,” said the eagle. “You have no feathers and no wings.”
雄鹰说，“小乌龟，” “你没有羽毛也没有翅膀。”
“You’re not made for flying.”
“你不适合飞行。”
“Keep your apples and your log.” “Be happy.”
“还是留着你的苹果和原木吧。” “开心点。”
这时的小乌龟并没有感到难过，而且……
The tortoise smiled.
小乌龟开心得笑了。
He watched the eagle go.
他目送雄鹰飞走。
然后他又坐回他的原木上，
He ate his apples.
他吃了他的苹果。 他现在非常满足。
And he no longer wanted to fly.
他再也不会想学习飞行了。
