Gitanjali 13

The song that I came to sing remains unsungto this day.

I have spent my days in stringing and inunstringing my instrument.

The time has not come true, the words havenot been rightly set;

only there is the agony of wishing in myheart.

The blossom has not opened; only the wind issighing by.

I have not seen his face, nor have Ilistened to his voice;

 onlyI have heard his gentle footsteps from the road before my house.

The livelong day has passed in spreading hisseat on the floor;

but the lamp has not been lit and I cannotask him into my house.

I live in the hope of meeting with him; butthis meeting is not yet.

花蕊还未开放；只有风从旁叹息走过。

我没有看见过他的脸，也没有听见过他的声音；我只听见他轻蹑的足音，从我房前路上走过。

悠长的一天消磨在为他在地上铺设座位；但是灯火还未点上，我不能请他进来。

我生活在和他相会的希望中，但这相会的日子还没有来到。
