1. BEIJING 2022 PARTICIPANTS TO BE INSIDE A "BUBBLE"
冬奥会“最严”防疫要求出炉，闭环管理筑牢安全屏障

Beijing Winter Games organizers said that all Olympic personnel need to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before coming to China so that they can be exempt from quarantine and enter the "Olympic bubble【气泡，闭环】". Zhang Yue has the details.
北京冬奥组委宣布，所有涉奥人员需要在来华至少14天前完成全程疫苗接种，才可以免除集中隔离，进入闭环管理。

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Games said it applies to all athletes, coaches, trainers, officials and other people associated with the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The organizers urge all participants to wear N95 and KN95 face masks and obtain a booster【加强剂】 shot before coming to China. Nucleic acid tests will be administered daily during the Games.
北京冬奥运组委表示，这项规定适用于所有运动员、教练员、训练人员、随队官员和其他涉奥人员。此外还特别建议涉奥人员来华期间佩戴N95或KN95口罩，并提前接种新冠疫苗加强针。赛会期间闭环内人员需要每日进行核酸检测。

We require all Games participants to download the smartphone app of the 2022 Winter Games at least 14 days before traveling to China, so we can better monitor【监测】 their health status each day. They also need to undergo nucleic acid tests twice -- 96 hours before their flight, and both nasal and throat swabs when arriving at Beijing’s international airport. All personnel will be provided a 24-hour nucleic acid test certificate when they depart Beijing.
要求所有人来华前14天下载冬奥通APP，这里有一个健康监测系统，每日要进行健康监测。在航班起飞前96小时内，要进行两次核酸检测，在入境时，还要在机场海关进行口咽拭子 鼻咽拭子核酸检测。离境时，我们会提供24小时核酸检测阴性证明，便于他们离境到目的地国家。

China also expressed regrets about the National Hockey League’s decision not to send its players to the Beijing Games after the pandemic has led to 50 regular-season games being postponed.
北美冰球联盟（NHL）宣布因疫情原因将不会派运动员来华参赛，北京冬奥组委对此表示遗憾。此前疫情已经导致50场常规赛延期。

2. EARTHQUAKE JOLTS JIANGSU PROVINCE
江苏常州发生地震，预警信息却“跑赢了”地震波

A 4.2-magnitude【震级】 earthquake hit Changzhou City in Jiangsu Province at 9:46 last night, the China Earthquake Network Center said. The epicenter was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers. Changzhou is about 150 kilometers from downtown Shanghai, and some residents here said they felt a little tremor【震颤】. Zhang Hong has the details.
昨晚（12月22日晚）9点46分，江苏省常州市发生4.2级地震，震源深度10公里。常州距离上海市中心150公里，一些上海市民表示也有震感。

There were no reports of injuries or loss of property due to the earthquake. The earthquake’s epicenter was the closest to Shanghai since the 2012 Gaoyou earthquake in Jiangsu Province. But seismologists said the quake was not connected to last month’s earthquake off the coast of Yancheng City in Jiangsu.
目前，各地均未收到人员伤亡和建筑物受损的报告。此次地震是2012年高邮地震以来距离上海最近的一次。但地震台专家表示，此次地震与上个月（11月）发生在江苏省盐城附近   海域的地震无直接关联。

This earthquake was one of the more noticeable earthquakes in recent years. It was felt over a large area of eastern China because of the thick layer of ground cover.
这是近几年来比较大的有感地震，且震感范围比较大。因为华东这一片地表的地基，覆盖层比较厚，所以有感的范围会比较大。

Many Shanghai residents received earthquake warnings from flash alerts on mobile phones and TV. The system issued a warning to Shanghai 36 seconds in advance and to Nanjing 25 seconds before it occurred.
不少上海市民通过电视、手机等渠道收到了地震预警。中国地震预警网成功预警了此次地震，提前36秒向上海发出预警，提前25秒向南京发出预警。


3. RUSSIAN PRESIDENT HOLDS ANNUAL END-OF-YEAR PRESS CONFERENCE
普京召开年度记者会，面对面纵论内政外交

Russian President Vladimir Putin held the customary【习俗的，惯例的】 year-end news conference today, addressing the issues of the outgoing year. This year’s conference returned to its standard face-to-face format, instead of speaking by video link like last year. Zhang Hong has more.
今日（12月23日），俄罗斯总统弗拉迪米尔·普京按照惯例召开2021年度记者会，对这一年里的各项问题进行总结。普京决定，不再沿用去年的视频会议形式，而是重回"线下"、与媒体记者"面对面"。

The press conference was held at The Moscow Manege to allow for social distancing. The number of domestic and foreign journalists allowed to attend was limited to around 500. All of them had provided proof of at least three negative nucleic acid tests before they were allowed entry. 
为确保社交距离，此次记者会在莫斯科的的马涅什中央展览馆举行。通过认证的国内外记者人数被限制在500人左右。在进场前，记者们均已接受三次核酸检测。

Without an opening remark, Russian President Vladimir Putin answered questions from the press. He said the country’s economic growth rate is expected to be 4.5% this year. On the subject of vaccination, Putin said Russia’s current collective immunity level is 59.4%, and he urged more Russians to get inoculated【接种】.
记者会上，普京跳过了开场白环节，直接开启了"马拉松式"问答。他表示，俄罗斯今年的GDP预计增长4.5%。谈及疫苗接种问题，他表示俄罗斯目前的疫苗接种率仅为59.4%，并敦促更多的俄罗斯公民接种疫苗。

We need a collective immunity level of around 80 percent. I hope that next year, by the end of the first quarter or in the second quarter, we will reach that level.
我们要达到群体免疫的话，疫苗接种率得达到80%左右。我希望明年一季度末或二季度初时俄罗斯的接种率可以达到这一水平。

When asked about the tension between Russia and Ukraine, Putin claimed that Kyiv was reluctant【不情愿的，勉强的】 to implement【落实，使生效】 the Minsk agreements. Putin said during a call with U.S. President Joe Biden, they agreed to appoint envoys to continue talks on global security. Putin said ongoing negotiations with the U.S. were positive. 
当被问及近期俄乌边境紧张局势时，普京表示乌克兰方面始终不愿落实明斯克协议。普京透露，近期在与美国总统拜登的通话中，双方都同意指定专人来跟进全球安全事务。普京认为，美方的反应总体是积极的。

The Russian President has held press events of this kind every year since 2001, with the exception for when he served as Russia’s Prime Minister from 2008 to 2012.
自2001年起，普京每年都会以大型记者会的形式与媒体会面，仅在其2008年至2012年任总理期间中断。
