“天宫课堂”开课啦！一起来学太空知识！

The China Manned Space Agency livestreamed its first class from the country’s space station this afternoon, a 50-minute session【一段时间】 covering phenomenon you’d never find except in a zero-gravity environment. Here’s Sun Siqi with a closer look at what the astronauts taught students.

中国载人航天局于今日（12月9日）下午直播了首次太空课程。在这50分钟的课堂里，你将会了解到在地球表面上无法看到的现象。让我们跟随记者来看看航天员们为我们带来了怎样的精彩课程。

The lesson started with the basics, like spinning in space. Notice how the rotation speeds up when the arms are closer to the body. A ping pong ball can be pushed to the bottom of the water, unlike the way it floats on earth. One can pull out a single drop of water like its a soap bubble, then add more drops until it becomes a bulb of liquid that acts like a magnifying glass.

首次“天宫课堂”上，航天员们先从基础知识讲起，例如如何在太空环境下转身。注意看，当手臂靠近身体时，转身的速度就会加快。一颗乒乓球可以被推到水底，而不像在地球上那样，漂浮到水面上。航天员们还能像吹肥皂泡一样，抽出一滴水珠，然后在这滴水珠上加上更多的水珠，直到它变成有放大镜功能的液体球形。

Astronauts Wang Yaping, Ye Guangfu and Zhai Zhigang gave a tour of the station. They wear special elastic clothing and exercise regularly to counteract the effect of slow gravity on their muscles and bones.

In zero gravity, the blood in our bodies is distributed differently than on earth. In the lower body, the blood tends to flow up, which affects our health. Here’s a look at one of our exercise machines: a space treadmill.

In Shanghai, all 1,200 kids at Zizhu Primary School in Minhang District watched the lecture.

Around 470,000 new rental housing units will be offered in Shanghai in the next five years as the city works to meet the needs of young people and new residents. Zhang Hong brings us the stories of some young people who have already been living in a public rental apartment.

未来五年内，上海将新增公租房约47万套，以此满足前来上海务工的年轻人的住房需求。来听听一些公租房年轻居民的故事吧。

28-year-old Cui Yalou came from Henan to Shanghai four years ago. He now works as an engineer.

I saw the whole construction process of Shanghai Tower when I was in college. As a student studying engineering, I was excited. Now I’ve taken part in a fair number of projects in Shanghai.

Cui lives in a public rental house in Putuo and he enjoys the large exercise area downstairs and a shorter commute 【通勤】time, allowing him to better devote himself to work.

Zhang Huan, a 29-year-old product manager, lives in the same residential compound【居民区】. She loves going to the malls with her neighbor Miss Guan.

Xiang Caizhu, a 29-year-old policeman, lives with his wife and their baby in an apartment in Hongkou with two bedrooms and a living room. Xiang says his happiest moment of the day is when he cooks dinner for his family.

Sometimes I get very tired after work. But I feel relaxed as I step into my sweet home with my wife and child waiting for me.

每天下完班，有的时候比较疲累。一进入家门我就感觉特别温馨，家里面有老婆有小孩等着我。

With some 470,000 new rental housing units to be offered in the next five years, more young people will be able to live in a nice and affordable apartment. The Shanghai government said anyone legally employed in Shanghai and with a per capita housing area of less than 15 square meters qualifies to apply regardless of income or whether they have a Shanghai hukou or not.

未来五年内新增的约47万套公租房，能让更多的年轻人搬进舒适、实惠的公寓。上海市政府表示，凡是在上海合法就业且人均住房面积低于15平方米的人，无论收入高低，是否有上海户口，都可以申请公租房。

3.CHINA CALLS ON COUNTRIES TO SHOW OLYMPIC SPIRIT

维护奥运团结精神，抵制政治势力作秀

China’s Foreign Ministry today reiterated its strong opposition to the politicization of sports from countries including the US, Australia, UK and Canada, saying they will have to pay the price for this mistake. Lei Shuran tells us more.

中国外交部今天（12月9日）重申态度，强烈反对美国、澳大利亚、英国和加拿大等国将体育政治化的行为，称他们将为此错误付出代价。

Wang said sports have nothing to do with politics and the Winter Olympic Games is not a stage for political posturing. He called on countries concerned to demonstrate a more united Olympic spirit instead of undermining the Olympic cause.

The United States, Australia, Britain, Canada and some other countries have refused to honor the Olympic Truce, as adopted by UN General Assembly for the Beijing Winter Olympics. They unilaterally concocted【杜撰；编造】, directed, and staged this farce【闹剧】 of not sending officials to attend the games, standing on the opposite side of the Olympic community.

美、澳、英、加等个别国家拒绝共提北京冬奥会联大奥林匹克休战决议，又自编自导自演不派官员出席的闹剧，站在了奥林匹克大家庭的对立面。

With a growing diplomatic boycott of the Winter Olympics, IOC President Thomas Bach said during an online meeting yesterday that the Beijing Winter Olympics should not be used to raise global tensions and that athlete participation is a matter of worldwide consensus.

随着冬奥会的外交抵制愈演越烈，昨天（12月8日）国际奥委会主席巴赫通过线上视频记者会做出回应称，北京冬奥会不应成为加剧国际关系紧张的工具，

确保运动员参赛应是各国共识。

It has even become more important in this confrontational world that we are living in. And if the Games would even contribute to rising tensions, this would be absolutely contrary to our mission.

如今世界存在各种冲突分歧，国际关系日益紧张，在这样的背景下，奥运会的顺利举办显得尤其重要。但若奥运会被用来加剧这样的分歧，那便和我们的使命有所违背。

Bach used the ancient Olympiad as an example to prove that political intervention would only destroy and bring the Games to an end.

巴赫以古代奥林匹克运动会的历史为例，告诫当时正是因为政治势力的介入才导致古代奥林匹克运动的终结。

It’s a purely political decision for each government. We have been concerned with the athletes. We welcome that they can participate, that they are supported by their national governments.

Bach said he believes the IOC’s mission and responsibility is to ensure the Olympic Games and the Charter, he added that he has no doubt that the Chinese partners would deliver their commitments.

巴赫表示，国际奥委会的使命和责任是确保举办奥运会并遵守《奥林匹克宪章》。巴赫坚信北京冬奥组委会能够做出相应的许诺。
