Things Aren't Always What They Seem

[00:10.78]Two travelling angels stopped to spend the night 

[00:15.25]in the home of a wealthy family. 

[00:16.79]The family was rude 

[00:19.21]and refused to let the angels stay in the guest room. 

[00:21.93]Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. 

[00:26.74]As they made their bed on the hard floor, 

[00:29.90]the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. 

[00:33.42]When the younger angel asked why, 

[00:36.33]the older angel replied, 

[00:37.79]Things aren't always what they seem.

[00:40.51]The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, 

[00:46.65]but very hospitable farmer and his wife. 

[00:49.07]After sharing what little food they had, 

[00:52.46]the couple let the angels sleep in their bed 

[00:55.21]where they could have a good night's rest. 

[00:57.26]When the sun came up the next morning 

[01:00.24]the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears.

[01:05.27]whose milk had been their sole income, 

[01:07.22]lay dead in the field. 

[01:08.65]The younger angel was infuriated and accused the older angel:

[01:21.76]the second family has little 

[01:24.25]but is willing to share everything, 

[01:26.27]and you let the cow die.

[01:33.25]When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, 

[01:36.33]I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. 

[01:40.15]Since the owner was so obsessed with greed 

[01:43.20]and unwilling to share his good fortune, 

[01:45.18]I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it.

[01:48.34]Then last night as we slept in the farmer's bed, 

[01:53.05]the angel of death came for his wife. 

[01:55.46]I gave him the cow instead. 

[01:58.08]Things aren't always what they seem.
