An old German story,told by the Grimm brothers.
A poor old donkey said to an old dog,an old cat and an old rooster,"Let's go to the town of Bremen.We can sing and play music there.We'll be musicians."
They walked all day.In the evening they saw a house and looked in the window.Inside,four robbers were eating dinner.
"I have an idea"said the donkey."Dog,jump on my back."
The dog got up.Then the donkey said,"Cat,climb onto the dog's back.And rooster,fly onto the cat's back.Now,let's all make a noise."
The dog barked,the cat meowed,the rooster crowed and the donkey brayed.It was a terrible noise!Then they broke the window and went into the house.The robbers thought a tall ghost was coming in,and they ran away.The four friends sat at the table and ate the dinner.
After midnight,the robbers came back.The house was dark.One man went in.But the cat scratched him,the dog bit him,the donkey kicked him and the rooster cried Cock-a-doodle-doo!
The man ran out and said to the others,"Don't go in there.A witch scratched me.A man cut me with a knife.A monster hit me.And there's a judge,too.The judge said,Bring the robber to me!"
The four friends stayed in the house.And the robbers never came back again!

格林兄弟讲的一个古老的德国故事。
一只可怜的老驴对一只老狗、一只老猫和一只大公鸡说，“我们去不来梅镇吧。我们可以在那里唱歌和演奏音乐。我们会成为音乐家。”
他们走了一整天。到了晚上，他们看到了一座房子，就从窗户往里看。屋内，四名劫匪正在吃晚饭。
“我有个主意，”驴说，“狗，跳到我的背上。”
狗站了起来。然后驴说，“猫，爬到狗的背上。公鸡，飞到猫背上。现在，让我们都制造噪音。”
狗叫，猫叫，鸡叫，驴叫。那是一个可怕的声音！他们打碎了窗户，进了房子。劫匪以为是一个高个子的幽灵进来了，就逃跑了。四个朋友坐在桌边吃晚餐。
午夜过后，劫匪又回来了。房子里很黑。一个人进去了。但是猫抓他，狗咬他，驴踢他，公鸡叫着“咕——嘟—嘟！”
那人跑出来对其他人说，“别进去。一个女巫抓伤了我。一个男人用刀割伤了我。一个怪物打了我。还有一位法官法官说：把抢劫犯带到我这里来！”
这四个朋友留在了房子里。劫匪再也没有回来！
